DIYARBAKIR - Parliamentarians from German Greens Party paid a visit to Abdurrahman Kurt, the provincial Chairman of Justice and Development Party (AKP) in southeastern city of Diyarbakir, on Tuesday.
German MP Silke Stokar said energy policies and Turkey's position as a transit country in this respect are among the issues they dwell upon in their visit. "Economic developments in Turkey is another issue that we discuss" said Stokar.
Stokar stated that it is not enough only to see Ankara and Istanbul during a visit to Turkey, and one needs to see Diyarbakir too. German parliamentarian said they discussed issues such as unemployment, projects for women and supporting entrepreneurs during their contacts in the city.
On the other hand Kurt said membership of Turkey -- as a bridge between east and west -- to European Union (EU) would make it a union of values.
"This will play an important role for peace in the world," said Kurt. He added that Europe will prove that it is not a Christian club, in this way.
The parliamentarians will continue their contacts in Istanbul tomorrow.
