ANKARA - The 24th Ankara International Music Festival will begin tomorrow with a concert by Hacettepe University Symphony Orchestra.
Organised by `Sevda-Cenap And Music Association` the 24th Ankara International Music Festival will be held between April 4th-30th and 24 concerts will be given by musicians from 12 countries. Its motto is "Ankara more beautiful with music".
The opening performance of the festival will be a concert by the youngest orchestra in Ankara, Hacettepe Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Erol Erdinc. The concert will also feature the 19-year old Russian violin player Sergei Dogadin.
On April fifth the festival will continue with a jazz performance by Karrin Allyson and her band. Allyson`s latest album "Footprints" was nominated for Grammy this year in the category of "The best jazz album of the year."
While the most important performance of this year`s festival will be by legendary Flamenco guitarist Paco de Lucia on April 6th, other major performances will be as follows:
-Jean Luc Ponty and band on April 7th,
-Pianists Ufuk and Bahar Dorduncu and Bulent Evcil-Lior Kretzer Flute-Piano duo on April the 8th,
-"Red Priest" under the directing of famous flute player Piers Adams on April 13th,
-Famous Swedish band of the 70`s ABBA on April 14th,
-Musica Viva Orchestra on April 16th.
