ISTANBUL - A total of 156.5 kg heroin and 60 kg hashish were seized in three separate operations staged in Istanbul and Izmir provinces. Seven people were taken into custody in connection with the haul.
Istanbul Security Department Deputy Director Sammaz Demirtas made a statement and said 98.5 kg heroin was seized hidden in a lorry which was about to sent abroad.
Demirtas said two people were taken into custody in connection with the haul.
Demirtas said 36 kg heroin was seized in a lorry in Kadikoy district which was also about to be sent abroad, stating that 22 kg heroin was confiscated in Aegean Izmir province. He said the haul was about to be loaded on a lorry.
Demirtas said four people were arrested in connection with the heroin.
Demirtas said in another operation, 60 kg hashish was seized in a house in Bagcilar district. He said one person was captured.
