LEFKOSA - Mehmet Ali Talat, Prime Minister of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), said on Saturday that they would be in an effort to solve Cyprus question till May 2004 on the basis of Annan plan.
Speaking at the first cabinet meeting, Talat said the government was formed with the name of ''social compromise and solution government'', stating that the most essential targets of the government were to provide social compromise and to be in efforts to solve Cyprus question on the basis of Annan plan. He said social compromise was the most serious need of them.
Talat said Turkish Cypriot people had experienced December 14 elections, noting that results of the elections showed once again that they could not refrain from social compromise and that people wanted solution of Cyprus question.
Talat said government partners would be coordination and cooperation, stressing that ministries would complete each other in their studies. Noting that the government was formed under the political equality of the two parties, Talat said success or failure would be collective.
Noting that there were important turning points in front of them, Talat said those would be met altogether.
TRNC FOREIGN MINISTER DENKTAS SAYS KEYWORD WILL BE COMPROMISE IN COMING DAYS
Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Serdar Denktas said on Saturday that keyword would be compromise in coming days.
Following the first meeting of the new cabinet in TRNC, Denktas told reporters that compromise should be among all parts of the society and political parties not only between two parties.
Denktas said that the government would work very hard.
Despite differences between Republican Turkish Party (CTP) and Democrat Party (DP), two parties could meet at common points and the government would not be a government of conflicts, Denktas underlined.
