ANKARA - State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Ali Sahin said on Friday that International Monetary Fund (IMF) delegation congratulated the government on reaching most of the targets in 2003.
Sahin received IMF delegation headed by Turkey Desk Chief Reza Moghadam.
Following the meeting, Sahin told reporters that he and IMF delegation took up performances in 2003.
Sahin said that IMF delegation expressed view about keeping to financial discipline in 2004.
The government was determined to keep to the financial discipline, Sahin noted.
Sahin emphasized that he and IMF delegation also discussed rise in pension of people who retired from Social Security Agency (SSK) and Social Security Agency for the Self-Employed (Bagkur) and increase in minimum wage.
State Minister Sahin expressed his view that all ministries could meet those rises re-estimating their own appropriation.
Sahin said that he told IMF delegation that rise in minimum wage would not bring any burden.
Moghadam said that their meeting with Sahin was very important and added that they learned views of the government about issues concerning Sahin's office.
IMF delegation is paying a visit to Turkey to take up the seventh review.
