Natural Disaster Information & Research Center To Be Established In Turkey

ANKARA - Natural Disaster Information & Research Center will be established in Turkey. Sub-centers will be erected in Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Ukraine.
A protocol was signed in Ankara on Wednesday for the project to be carried under the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
Turkish, Tajik, Kyrgyz, Kazakh and Ukrainian officials were in attendance at the signing ceremony.
Meanwhile, Ministry of Public Works & Housing Ministry Undersecretary Sabri Erbakan said that Turkey had suffered serious damage and lost many of citizens in natural disasters such as earthquakes, landslides, floods and avalanches in the last decade.
"The center aims at reducing damage caused by such natural disasters. We will exchange our information and experiences, and develop technical cooperation among the relevant countries," Erbakan added.
