ANKARA - "Turkey is on the eve of new days, fresh springs" said Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan who attended a Nevruz celebration program in Ankara on Wednesday.
Erdogan delivered a speech at the celebration ceremony organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in front of TRT (Turkish Radio Television) Ari studios in Ankara.
In his speech, Erdogan pointed out to the constant change in the world and Turkey. He said new demands cannot be answered with the thoughts of the Cold War, or with the stereotypes of old ideologies.
"Fortunately Turkey left these behind. Old animosities do not have respondents anymore. We are on the eve of new days, fresh springs. When the expected spring comes, our people will continue walking on a renewed and fresh path."
In his speech Erdogan made quotations from prominent Turkish poet Nazim Hikmet, and stressed the importance of living in a brotherly manner.
"We will embrace all our components and differences by knowing that they are fundamental elements of this land, this country. Today we are celebrating the anniversary of looking at the nature that God furnished with various richness. Like the nature presents richness with its diversity and variety, we should know that it will be a strong synergy if we do not make concessions from our variety and diversities."
Agriculture and Rural Affairs Minister Mehmet Mehdi Eker, Culture and Tourism Minister Atilla Koc and state ministers Mehmet Ali Sahin and Besir Atalay were among the participants of the celebration program.
