JERUSALEM - A Turkish technical delegation is in al-Haram al-Sharif to examine and report on the excavations around this area.
The delegation, led by Turkey`s Consul General in Jerusalem Ercan Ozer, first had a meeting with executives of the Israeli historical artifacts administration, and then went to the excavation area.
Speaking to reporters, Ozer said that the delegation will continue their investigation at the area tomorrow, and prepare a report and submit it to Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan when they return to Turkey.
The delegation consists of historian Prof. Dr. Tufan Buzpinar, archeologist Prof. Dr. Sait Basaran, geophysical engineer Prof. Dr. Metin Ilkisik, art historian Associate Proffessor Ahmet Vefa Cobanoglu, architect Hilmi Senalp, and Public Works & Housing Ministry civil engineer Atilla Erenler.
Turkish team will also meet executives of Islamic Foundation today.
Earlier, some members of the United Nations Educational, Scientific & Cultural Organization (UNESCO) visited the area and prepared a report.
