ANKARA - The talks with IMF delegation in Turkey centered around the 6th review under the stand-by arrangement and agreement was reached on majority of the topics, it was reported.
According to a statement issued by the Turkish Treasury, "latest macroeconomic situation and expectations, public finance achievement by the end of 2006, monetary policy for 2007, programme targets for public finance and latest developments on structural reforms" were discussed within the framework of the talks with the IMF delegation regarding the 6th review under the stand-by arrangement.
In the talks it was confirmed (regarding the macroeconomic developments) that the growth in 2006 was actualised over the projected rate of 5 percent, the current account deficit towards the end of the 2006 declined and the primary surplus would exceed the target of 6.5 percent, it was reported.
The statement said "it was agreed that solutions --preserving the essence of the social security reform-- should be planned in accordance with the verdict of the constitutional court; and steps that would strengthen and improve the reforms done in the tax policy should be taken," regarding the structural reforms.
