ANKARA - Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan sent a message on Wednesday to National Unity Party (UBP) leader Dervis Eroglu who handed over his post of prime ministry in TRNC, thanking him for his close friendship and cooperation.
Prime Ministry Press Centre issued a written statement noting that Erdogan told in his message that the TRNC government led by Dervis Eroglu carried out meticulously the mission of defending the indispensable rights of Turkish Cypriots in a critical and difficult period in which expectations of the international society for solution of Cyprus problem increased more than ever.
''We took important steps together to overcome the problems of TRNC economy during your term in office. We further advanced the economic programmes that were being implemented. We put into practice new investments particularly in water and energy fields and started the preparations of broad scale projects. We encouraged the private sector to make TRNC an attractive place for investment. We want to continue having close cooperation and solidarity with the new TRNC government, to conclude the studies that we started with your government and start new ones. Our government is resolved to take all sorts of measures to ensure Turkish Cypriot people to have a more peaceful and prosperous life. I would like to thank you and your government for the close friendship between us and between our governments in that respect and I believe that you will continue to serve the Turkish Cypriot people with your political experience,'' Erdogan noted in his message to Eroglu.
