LEFKOSA - TRNC President Rauf Denktas said on Wednesday that the issue as to whether the three DP ministers' having residence abroad was against the Constitution or not was a legal one, adding he would discuss the issue with Attorney General.
When asked his view about the issue, Denktas told reporters that it was a legal issue and he would discuss it with Attorney General.
The view that the ministers who were appointed from outside the parliament should have 3-year non-stop residence in TRNC, affected the work of the TRNC parliament the same day.
National Unity Party (UBP) thinks that the three ministers appointed by Democrat Party (DP) does not fulfill this condition and claims the appointment is therefore against the Constitution.
Article 106/4 of the Constitution says that ''ministers can be appointed from among persons who are not deputies, but those persons should be eligible for election as deputies.''
DP leader, Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Serdar Denktas had said that they waited for the decision of Attorney General and they would abide by that decision.
Here are the ministers in question: ''Economy and Tourism Minister Ayse Donmezer, Labour and Social Security Minister Erkan Emekci and Agriculture and Forestry Minister Rasit Pertev.''
