Hungary, Poland And Italy Use Bases In Turkey For Similar Purposes With United States

ANKARA - It was revealed that Hungary, Poland and Italy have been using the bases in Turkey for similar purposes with the United States.
Diplomatic sources told the A.A correspondent that Hungary, Poland and Italy were allowed to use the bases in Turkey after secrecy of the decision of the Council of Ministers dated June 23, 2003, was lifted on November 23.
Sources said that Hungary, Poland and Italy had been using the bases in Turkey for similar purposes with the United States to make a military contribution to Iraq.
They said that legal experts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the General Staff had been investigating the legitimacy of the issue.
Noting that the United States was allowed to use the Incirlik Air Base in southern province of Adana for rotation of its soldiers in Iraq, sources said that they did not receive an information about the United States' request for a collective permission for passage of soldiers.
Sources added that the use of the Incirlik Air Base should not be assessed under the new global strategy of the United States.
