ISTANBUL - International Monetary Fund (IMF) delegation, led by Turkey Desk Chief Reza Moghadam, met on Monday with administrators of Turkish Exporters' Assembly (TIM).
TIM Chairman Oguz Satici informed IMF delegation about developments in Turkish economy in the meeting which lasted for about two hours.
Satici said that they told again IMF delegation in the meeting that there should be arrangements in the economic program.
He said that they told IMF delegation that the government showed its determination on the program.
Stating that IMF delegation congratulated Turkish exporters on their success, Satici said that economic program which was implemented in Turkey was not only for private sector but also for making public sector a productive one.
Satici added that they also told IMF delegation that Central Bank should be more transparent in the meeting.
IMF DELEGATION MEETS WITH ADMINISTRATORS OF TUSIAD
International Monetary Fund (IMF) delegation headed by Turkey Desk Chief Reza Moghadam met on Monday with administrators of Turkish Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association (TUSIAD).
Following the meeting, TUSIAD Executive Board Deputy Chairman Omer Sabanci told reporters that administrators of TUSIAD exchanged views about several issues with IMF delegation.
Sabanci quoted members of TUSIAD as saying in the meeting that the year 2003 was an economically successful year.
Defining reduction in inflation and interests rates as very pleasing, Sabanci said that TUSIAD administrators expressed view that Turkey should keep to the economic program also in 2004 in order to record similar developments.
Sabanci noted that administrators of TUSIAD expressed their views about efforts to be exerted in order to rehabilitate investment environment, to attract more foreign capital to Turkey and to solve unemployment problem.
TUSIAD Chairman Sabanci defined meeting between TUSIAD administrators and IMF delegation as good.
When a reporter recalled that Turkey might end relations with IMF in 2005 and asked if the issue came onto agenda in their meeting, Sabanci said, ''no, it hasn't come onto agenda. We are at the beginning of 2004. We hope our government will have successful performances in 2004. We think that there is still some time to end relations with IMF.''
Sabanci expressed hope that Turkey would keep to budgetary discipline in 2004.
IMF DELEGATION MEETS WITH DIRECTORS OF MUSIAD
International Monetary Fund (IMF) delegation led by Turkey Desk Chief Reza Moghadam met on Monday with directors of Individual Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association (MUSIAD).
Following the meeting, Moghadam said that it was a very good meeting and stated that MUSIAD Chairman Ali Bayramoglu informed them about his views on 2004.
Bayramoglu said that IMF delegation and they exchanged views on investment, reflection of domestic debt interests to Turkish economy, exchange policy and other issues in the meeting and stated that IMF was monitoring closely developments in Turkey.
MUSIAD also presented a report including proposals about Turkish economy to IMF delegation during the meeting.
