ANKARA - The Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq (SCIRI) delegation, led by Iraqi Governing Council member Abdul Aziz Al-Hakim, came to Ankara on Monday.
Speaking to reporters at Ankara's Esenboga Airport, Al-Hakim said that they came to Ankara with a high-level delegation upon official invitation and stated that they would take up developments in Iraq and reconstruction of the country.
Al-Hakim said that their visit was a big opportunity and stated that Turkey was always beside Iraqi people and it should also take a role in reconstruction of Iraq.
Stating that new Iraq would be an Iraq based on peace, love, friendship and freedom, Al-Hakim said that all sides in Iraq should be treated equally. Noting that all sides in Iraq should participate in reconstruction of Iraq, Al-Hakim said that no part of Iraq should be disregarded. Al-Hakim said that it was also important that a lasting constitution should be prepared by an administration which was elected.
Al-Hakim said that he would have meetings in Prime Ministry and Foreign Ministry and stated that they hoped to get important results from those meetings.
Stating that they would explain some necessities during their meetings, Al-Hakim said that they would say that Turkey should play a role in reconstruction of Iraq.
