Denktas: Efforts Are Continuing On Trying To Bring Annan Plan Into An Acceptable State

LEFKOSA - Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) President Rauf Denktas said on Monday that there were some tricks in Annan plan and a work was being made to remove those tricks and stated that efforts were continuing on trying to bring the Annan Plan into an acceptable state.
Denktas returned from Turkey to TRNC and replied to questions of reporters at the airport.
When a reporter said that Republican Turkish Party (CTP) leader Mehmet Ali Talat said that Denktas was always against negotiating the plan and but a solution was foreseen under the Annan plan in the government protocol and in works carried out in Turkey, Denktas said that people should leave behind what Talat said during election period and noted that there were things that Talat said and would say as the government now. Denktas said that it was a path on which they would walk with Turkey.
''One might say 'Annan Plan is still on the table, we will sit and discuss it'. But the work on this is preliminary and efforts are continuing on trying to bring the Annan Plan into an acceptable state,'' Denktas told reporters. Stating that they had some concerns on Annan plan, Denktas said that there were some tricks in it. Denktas stated that it was decided to make a preliminary work to remove those things and added that thus what the two sides said was valid.
When asked whether or not the plan which was prepared by Turkey would be a plan which was purified from those hesitations and concerns, Denktas said that it would be seen after it was discussed in the meeting of National Security Council (NSC).
Denktas said that a work was being made and added that the new government would deal with internal issues till a result came out from the NSC.
