Bilman: We Think That There Is A Consensus On Holding Next International Iraq Conference In Istanbul

ANKARA - "We think that there is a consensus among the relevant countries on holding the next international security conference on Iraq in Istanbul," Levent Bilman, spokesman for the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said on Wednesday.
Speaking at weekly press briefing, Bilman said, "the final declaration released at the end of the International Security Conference in Baghdad included our proposal to host the next meeting in Istanbul. The venue and date of the meeting will be determined by the relevant countries later."
"Turkish Foreign Minister & Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul`s telephone conversations with his counterparts showed that there is a consensus on holding the next meeting in Istanbul," he told reporters.
"Representatives of the neighboring countries with Iraq may come together at a meeting in Cairo, Egypt to set a date for the conference. It is possible to hold two separate meetings in Cairo and Istanbul on the foreign ministerial level," Bilman added.
