There Are Turkish Martyrdoms In 34 Countries, Gul

ANKARA - Turkish Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul said there are Turkish martyrdoms in 34 countries in a wide geography from India to Malta.
"The most interesting of all is the one in Myanmar," Gul said while replying to a question of an MP from ruling Justice & Development Party (AKP).
"In this less-known country, 1,500 Turkish soldiers were laid to rest," Gul noted, reminding that 12,000 Turkish soldiers went to Myanmar in 1915, which was once a colony of Britain (formerly known as Burma) and 1,500 of them died of epidemic diseases and heavy working conditions under captivity.
Gul indicated that there is also an inscription in Turkish in memory of these soldiers at that martyrdom.
Gul stated that there are Turkish martyrdoms in Germany, Albania, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Algeria, Czech Republic, Palestine, South Korea, India, Iraq, Britain, Iran, Israel, Italy, Japan, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Latvia, Libya, Lebanon, Hungary, Malta, Egypt, Myanmar, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Ukraine, Jordan and Greece.
