TEHRAN - Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul arrived in Iran on Saturday.
Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharazi, Turkey's Tehran Ambassador Selahattin Alpar and officials of embassy welcomed Gul at Mehrabad Airport.
Gul said that Turkey, knowing the pain of earthquake and with its experience on this issue, was ready to support Iran.
Gul said that President Ahmet Necdet Sezer would attend G-8 Summit to be held in Tehran next month and also Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan would visit Iran soon.
Iraq issue and bilateral relations will be taken up during the meeting of Gul and Kharazi.
Gul, who will meet with Kharazi today, will also be received by Iranian President Mohammad Khatami and First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref.
Gul and the accompanying delegation will return to Ankara on Sunday morning.
