STRASBOURG - Turkish State Minister & chief negotiator for EU Ali Babacan will have talks at the European Parliament (EP) for two days, starting from tomorrow.
Turkey`s full membership negotiations will be the main topic to be debated during Babacan`s talks with members of the EP.
Babacan is also expected to discuss recent developments regarding Cyprus problem during his talks at the EP.
Minister Babacan will meet members of the political groups and the committees at lunch tomorrow.
Daniel Cohn-Bendit, the co-chairman of the Group of the Greens; and Miguel Angel Martinez Martinez, the Vice President of the European Parliament; are the two MEPs with whom Babacan will have talks.
After meeting Martin Schulz, the Chairman of the Socialist Group, Babacan will hold a press conference.
Babacan will then have a meeting with Graham Watson, the Chairman of the Group of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe, and come together with MEPs of Turkish origin and MEPs close to Turkey over dinner.
On Thursday, State Minister Babacan will have breakfast with a Turkish parliamentary delegation, and meet Joost Lagendijk, the Co-President of Turkey-EU Joint Parliament Commission.
After paying a courtesy visit to EP President Hans-Gert Poettering, Babacan will meet Joseph Daul, the Chairman of the Group of the European People`s Party and European Democrats.
