SOLUTION TO CYPRUS WITH DAYTON MODEL
It is claimed that Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan can talk about Dayton model with U.S. President George Bush during his visit to the United States in the end of this month. For this model, approval of Simitis, Papadopoulous and Denktas is necessary. In 1995, Bosnian, Serbian and Croatian leaders came together in a hotel in Dayton town of the United States and did not get out until they reached an agreement.

ONE MATCH LEFT TO OLYMPICS
Sultans of the Net, which became the group leader by beating the Netherlands, also beat Poland 3-1 in the semifinals of the Women's Olympic Games Qualifying Tournament and wrote its name on finals. The next step is Germany.

ANTI-TERRORISM BASE
Washington reached an understanding with Ankara: Incirlik Base will be opened again and it will be center for fight against terrorism. According to the news of U.S. Wall Street Journal, Washington administration agreed with Ankara to re-open an important air base in Turkey. French news agency AFP said this base was Incirlik Air Base. The agreement gives the opportunity to U.S. army to stay in Turkish lands for a long time.

REPRESENTATIVE OF SOLDIERS IS KNOWN
Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul said upon the question whether there was a difference of opinion between commanders about Cyprus issue that there could be ministers who had different opinions in the government but the cabinet was represented by Prime Minister, adding that everybody also knew who represented the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK).

40 THOUSAND U.S. SOLDIERS IN KONYA AND INCIRLIK
The United States decided to withdraw its 70 thousand soldiers from bases in Germany and to deploy a part of them in Turkey, Poland, Bulgaria and Romania. The United States demanded Turkey to refresh Incirlik Base and wanted to enlarge and use Konya Base which is active within NATO.

SHOCK OF TRILLIONS TO YOUNG PARTY
Finance Ministry applied to Constitutional Court and wanted it to take precautionary measure on Treasury assistance worth of 11 trillion 163 billion Turkish Liras to be given to Young Party (GP). The Ministry claimed that GP had improper expenditures for elections.

WE SMILED IN NET
Turkish National Woman Volleyball team beat Poland 3-1 in the semifinals of the Women's Olympic Games Qualifying Tournament in Baku. Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul also watched the tournament. If the team beats Germany today, it will gain the right to join Olympic Games in Athens.

ERDOGAN WARNED ABOUT CYPRUS BEFORE HIS VISIT TO U.S.
U.S. President George W. Bush sent a letter to Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan before his visit to the U.S. saying that he wanted Erdogan to follow the approach of Annan about Cyprus. Noting that there was the opportunity for solution of Cyprus until May 1, 2004, Bush said in the letter that the only means for solution of the problem was Annan plan. Ankara which accepted the warning of the U.S. speeded up its studies within the scope of Annan plan.

TOWARDS CTP-DP COALITION IN TRNC
In Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), CTP Secretary General Ferdi Sabit Soyer and DP Secretary General Kemal Havalý said that ''the formation of CTP-DP coalition government has become clear.''

GUL SEEMS WORRIED ABOUT CYPRUS ISSUE
Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul criticized the news stories claming that there was not harmony between the government and the military. Gul said that Foreign Ministry and General Staff worked in great harmony. ''All of us grew up by knowing Cyprus cause, certainly there can be different opinions in all institutions,'' said Gul. Gul stressed that the date of May 1, 2004 was important, adding that solution of Cyprus issue until that date would be good. ''The reference is Annan plan, if there is no solution, we can have more problematic issues,'' he said.

POSITIVE MESSAGE FROM POWELL
U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell gave positive messages prior to the visit of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan to the U.S. Powell noted that issues of Iraq and PKK would be taken up during the contacts, adding that both sides would confirm the power of the bilateral relations.

FISCHER: WE POSTPONED 40 YEARS, LET'S ADMIT TURKEY
German Foreign Minister Joshcka Fischer said in his speech in Bertelsmann Forum in which Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan attended that the membership of Turkey, as a democratic and Muslim country, to the European Union (EU) would be a good sign for Arabian countries. He added that Turkey had been promised membership for 40 years and if this would not be fulfilled, the price of it would be very heavy for EU.

Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul said that they did not have difference of opinion with General Staff about Cyprus issue, adding that General Staff and Foreign Ministry had carried out studies together and the issue would be solved until May.

BUSH WRITES CYPRUS LETTER TO ERDOGAN
It was revealed that U.S. President George Bush had sent a letter to Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan about Cyprus issue as well as to Greek and Greek Cypriot leaders. Bush wants solution of Cyprus issue on the basis of Annan Plan.

GENERAL STAFF AND FOREIGN MINISTRY CARRY OUT STUDIES TOGETHER
Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul reacted against news claiming that Foreign Ministry and General Staff had different opinions on Cyprus issue. He said that Foreign Ministry and General Staff have carried out studies together and this would always continue like that. Gul touched on views regarding that final decision on new Cyprus plan would be given in National Security Council (NSC) and said that NSC was a recommendatory institution and a contrary understanding was very wrong and dangerous.
