ROME - About 150 flights were cancelled and a further 50 rescheduled in Italy on Tuesday when air controllers staged a four-hour strike, airport information agency Telenews said.
Italy's national airline Alitalia initially said it would only have to cancel 96 flights during the protest, which mostly affected domestic routes.
The strike, which took place between 0900 GMT and 1300 GMT, was organised by trade unions unhappy at working conditions and staff shortages.
