ANKARA - Parliament Speaker Bulent Arinc hosted a dinner in the honour of his Danish counterpart Christian Mejdahl and the accompanying delegation today.
During the dinner, Arinc said Turkey and Denmark acted together in various institutions related to security, law and human rights within the EU.
Noting that the two countries were exerting efforts to enhance relations in all fields and were capable of dealing with problems encountered in a friendly and sincere manner, Arinc said the high level delegation consisting of a balanced representation of the political scene in Denmark was a sign of the importance attached to Turkey.
Arinc thanked for the Danish support for Turkey`s EU membership bid, and reminded that the trade volume between the two countries reached 2 billion dollars.
Noting that 300,000 Danish tourists visited Turkey in the last two years, Arinc said "face-to-face interaction between our people helps eliminate prejudices and bring the two communities together."
Mejdahl and the accompanying delegations paid visits to President Ahmet Necdet Sezer and State Minister and Chief EU Negotiator Ali Babacan earlier today.
