ANKARA - Turkish Parliament Speaker Bulent Arinc has met his Danish counterpart Christian Mejdahl, who is currently paying a state visit to Turkey.
Prior to the meeting, Arinc told reporters that Mejdahl's visit to Turkey would boost efforts to improve parliamentary relations between the two countries.
"There are more than 50 thousand Turkish people living in Denmark. They make valuable contributions to our friendly relations with Denmark," Arinc said.
Meanwhile, Mejdahl described Turkey as a beautiful and interesting country.
Mejdahl said that they were ready to do everything in their power to assit Turkey in its EU membership process.
He said that Danish minister of education wanted to pay a viusit to Turkey in the coming months.
Mejdahl will be received by Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer later in the day.
He is also scheduled to meet Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and partake in a banquet to be hosted in his honor by Arinc.
