Syrian President Asad Visits Istanbul Stock Exchange

ISTANBUL - Syrian President Bashar al-Asad and his wife Esma al-Asad visited Istanbul Stock Exchange (IMKB) on Thursday.
IMKB Chairman Osman Birsen, Deputy Chairman Esin Akbulut and IMKB Chief Laws Advisor Tangul Durakbasa greeted al-Asad couple.
State Minister Kursat Tuzmen and his wife Perihan Tuzmen accompanied al-Asad couple.
Later, Syrian President al-Asad opened the first session of the stock exchange and wished brokers and investors to earn more money.
Prior to the visit, Birsen told the A.A correspondent that Syrian officials had been carrying out work on opening of a stock exchange in Syria. ''Mr. al-Asad will get information and we will brief him on our experience.''
