ANKARA - Fitch Ratings, a leading international rating agency, assigned Turkey's forthcoming Eurobond issue a 'B' long-term foreign currency rating.
Releasing a statement on Wednesday, Fitch said the outlook for the long-term ratings remained positive.
The agency said it believed 2004 would be less impressive for Turkey 2003 but the government should experience no major problems meeting its financing requirements.
Multilateral support was strong and it would take a policy deviation of some magnitude to raise concerns over a breakdown in relations with the IMF, Fitch said.
Treasury announced yesterday that it had authorized Citigroup and UBS Investment Bank to lead a treasury bond issue under the 2004 year foreign borrowing program.
