PREMIER ERDOGAN`S TARGET: "65 MILLION TOURISTS, 85 BLN USD"
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan who attended the "Restructuring and New Openings in Turkish Tourism Summit" held in Mediterranean city of Antalya, said that they were planning to reach a number of 65 million tourists and a 85 billion-USD tourism income by the year 2023.
Erdogan also stated that they were aware of the problems the tourism sector was facing and they were carrying out activities in order to eliminate such troubles.

3 UNIVERSITY STUDENTS DIE WHILE RACING
Race of the university students, who were driving back their homes after a birthday party, ended up with a disaster in capital Ankara.
Three university students Acelya Yumak(21), Kagan Gursen (21) and Funda Serin (22) died at the horrible accident, while 5 people were wounded.

EVREN: "STRICT NATIONALISM DOES NOT WORK"
Former President Kenan Evren, who changed the political agenda with his recent remarks, called Milliyet daily`s columnist Hasan Cemal and delivered new messages.
"Where does the world go, where are we going? We need to keep up with the world. We can not reach anywhere with strict rules and strict nationalism," Evren said.
Regarding the criticism he received over his latest statements which emphasized that "Turkey could be separated into 8 states", Evren noted that he felt he needed to tell the truth.

ERDOGAN DOES NOT GIVE GOOD NEWS, MAKES PROMISES
Entrepreneurs working in the tourism sector in Turkey, heard "promises" during the "Tourism Summit" held in southern city of Antalya, instead of "good news" they expected to hear, concerning the VAT reduction.
Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated during the summit that, they "wished" to reduce the VAT used in tourism sector, to a one-digit figure.

UNAKITAN: "THE ONE TO GO TO THE PRESIDENTIAL PALACE IS CLEAR, BUT..."
Finance Minister Kemal Unakitan`s remarks stating that "the person who will go to the Cankaya Presidential Palace is clear; however, the one to takeover his position will be determined on April 16th", reveal that Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan will become the new President, Sabah daily`s columnist Aydin Ayaydin writes.
Ayaydin also comments that Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul will be the new Prime Minister.

"HALLOUMI" TENSION IN CYPRUS, AFTER PETROLEUM CRISIS
The tension regarding the "Halloumi" issue grows in Cyprus. President of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Mehmet Ali Talat said that they would do all their best in order to stop Greek Cypriots who desire to register "halloumi" cheese within EU in favor of themselves.

2ND ISKI SCANDAL
The tender process at the Istanbul Water and Sewerage Administration works like this: The company who wins the tender, finds a subcontractor and gives the job to that company for half the tender amount, maybe even for less. The remaining balance goes to the accounts of "friends, relatives and partners who stole the tender from the pockets of the common people.
The MVM company who is responsible for Dilara`s death won the betterment of Tavukcu creek tender for 12,5 million YTL. It gave the job to Gunter engineering for far less. Gunter left the manhole open and Dilara died. There are many incidents like this. Everybody knows it, but nobody does anything about it.

REMISSION TO ACCUMULATED TRAFFIC FINES
The Justice and Development Party is getting ready to remit the accumulated traffic fines that occurred due to late notification. The fines that were written before December 31st 2006 but were notified of after January 1st 2007 will be remitted and those who already have paid their fine for the mentioned period will be refunded.

"AKP WEAKENS JURISDICTION"
President of the Turkish Bar Association Ozdemir Ozok stated that none of the governments in Turkey so far attempted to direct the jurisdiction as much as Justice and Development Party (AKP) did.
Ozok warned AKP that playing with the jurisdiction did not bring any benefits to any of the governments and noted, "The government desires to wear down and weaken the objective jurisdiction".

"FIRST CONTACT" ESTABLISHED
Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul who went to the Egyptian capital of Cairo in order to attend the Arab League FM`s meeting, held talks with Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Mahmud Zebari who is known as the closest fellow of Kurdistan Democratic Party leader Massoud Barzani.
The meeting attracted attention, as it was held after the tension between the government and the General Staff, regarding the issue of meeting Kurdish leaders in northern Iraq.

"IF ONLY CHP WAS EUROPEAN"
Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan who participated in the "Tourism Summit" in southern city of Antalya, complained about the criticism he received over Article 301 of the Turkish Penal Code.
"Unfortunately, we have the Western social democrats beside us during our studies; however, we do not have the ones in Turkey near us. They say, `Do not come to us for Article 301, do not knock at our door`," Erdogan stressed.

MINISTER OF HEALTH INSISTENT ON FOREIGN DOCTORS
Minister of Health Recep Akdag said that they were determined about the "foreign doctors" issue.
Commenting on President Ahmet Necdet Sezer`s rejecting the act which envisages the employment of foreign doctors in Turkey, Akdag said, "I want to see the legal statement. When I looked at the motives emphasized on the internet, I thought that Mr. President was disinformed regarding the issue".

ARTICLE 301 CAN BE CHANGED, BUT IT WILL NOT BE SUBVERTED
Stressing that they have called on everyone to make suggestions about Article 301 PM Erdogan said, "We are calling the NGOs in our country to bring forth their suggestions whatever opinion they may have. We are keen on changing this, but we won`t subvert it."

THE DEATH RACE
B.T and E.E started racing their cars on the way back from a birthday party on the Eskisehir freeway. The car that B.T was driving hit E.E`s car and then to the other lane. After crashing into two other vehicles the car turned into a total wreckage.
The Bilkent University students Kagan Gursen and Acelya Yumak who were in the racing cars were killed. A student from Istanbul University Funda Serin who was in the other car that was involved in the accident died in the hospital. Four other students were wounded at the accident.

TURKEY CHANGES ITS LOBBY FIRM IN THE US
After the victory of Democrats in the American Congress, Ankara is changing the lobby firm(Livingston) it`s been working with for the past seven years. Turkey is about to sign an agreement with DLA Piper, it was reported.

DIGITAL INFRASTRUCTURE READY, TRAINS ARE IN COVERAGE AREA
Turkish State Railways is now building a digital infrastructure network over its 11.000 km long railways. With the help of the GSM-Railway system, the cellphones will be in service even at those points called blind spots.

International community managed to prevent an illegality in Iraq "for the first time".
Reactions of the civilians from all around the world and political endeavors in which Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan participated as well, yielded good results. Iraqi administration delayed the execution of the Iraqi women Wassan, Zeynep and Liqa until the appeal decision is clear.

"ARTICLE 301 SHALL CHANGE, BUT WILL NOT BE REMOVED"
Stressing that they have asked for proposals from the civil society regarding Article 301 of the Turkish Penal Code, Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that they supported the change of the article, however they did not want it to be removed.
