ANKARA - Turkey will send 1560.3 tons of foodstuff worth of 1 million U.S. dollars to Georgia.
Releasing a statement on Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, ''earlier, Georgia has called on the international community to assist it due to its economic difficulties. Therefore, Turkey has decided to send an urgent foodstuff aid to Georgia worth of 1 million U.S. dollars.''
''The aid prepared in coordination with the Prime Ministry Directorate General of Emergency Management, will be taken to Georgia by 97 lorries. Some of the lorries have already set off,'' it said.
The statement added, ''the urgent foodstuff aid includes 25 tons of rice, 10 tons of tea, 100 tons of sugar, 552 tons of flour, 10.7 tons of cheese, 6.1 tons of tomato paste, 6.7 tons margarine, 16.7 tons of canned pea, 5.1 tons of macaroni, 16.2 tons of vegetal oil, 129.5 tons of egg, 426.1 tons of potato, and 25.3 tons of carrot.''
