United States Targets Cooperation Between Turkish And American Companies In Rebuilding Of Iraq

ANKARA - The United States plans to hold meetings between American companies and Turkish firms that want to make business in Iraq after it included Turkey in the list of countries which can bid for auctions under rebuilding of Iraq.
Robert Canon, the United States' top administrator in Iraq Paul Bremer's assistant for commercial relations, said on Monday that they targeted to organize meetings in Jordan between American companies and Turkish firms which wanted to make business in Iraq.
Noting that they had invited representatives of Turkish companies to a fair to be held in Amman on January 9, Canon said that Turkish companies would have the biggest stand at the fair.
Stressing that it was difficult to make business in Iraq due to security problems, Canon said that there was not a special threat for Turkish businessmen.
The United States is expected to release notices and specifications for 18.6 billion U.S. dollars of auctions under rebuilding of Iraq in mid-January and announce winners early in March.
