ANKARA - Turkey has extended foodstuff, medicine and medical equipment to quake zone in Iran worth of 969.8 billion Turkish liras (TL) so far.
A statement of State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Ali Sahin's Office said on Monday that six military cargo planes and search and rescue and emergency health teams were sent to Bam city of Iran in coordination with Directorate General of Emergency Management in the wake of the quake disaster in Iran.
The statement noted that Turkish search and rescue teams unearthed 69 dead bodies under the debris since December 27, 2003.
An official search and rescue team comprised of 53 people and a health team of 80 people also went to the quake zone, the statement pointed out.
The statement said that health team had helped two thousand 400 quake survivors and given tetanus inoculation to 19 thousand people so far.
Public Works and Settlement Ministry's Directorate General of Disaster Affairs started to send 800 containers to Iranian Bam city by trains, the statement pointed out.
The statement said that a thousand beds, 150 stoves and 100 sleeping sets for 100 children were also dispatched to the quake zone.
A technical team consisted of eight people were still in the region to choose places to put the containers and to assess damage in the wake of the devastating earthquake, the statement noted.
The statement recalled that State Minister Sahin went to the region to express condolences and wish quick recovery.
Turkish search and rescue, emergency aid and health teams would return from Iran to Turkey in the evening, the statement added.
