ISTANBUL - The Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the world's largest multilateral source of finance for private sector projects in developing countries, will host a meeting in Istanbul on January 13, 2004, to introduce IFC's finance opportunities and implementations.
DEIK Executive Board Chairman Rona Yircali told the A.A correspondent on Sunday that IFC provided medium-term project finance, loans for companies, guarantees, and consultative services for governments and companies.
Listing the IFC's investment sectors as agriculture, mining, manufacturing industry, infrastructure projects, services, finance, health and education, Yircali said that the IFC had made investments in Southeastern Europe and Central Asia between July 1, 2002 and June 30, 2003 worth of 1.4 billion U.S. dollars.
Noting that the IFC's investments in these regions were expected to rise to 1.6 billion U.S. dollars, Yircali said that Turkey was ranked fourth among countries in which the IFC made its investments.
The meeting will take place at Istanbul's Ceylan Intercontinental Hotel.
Details of the IFC's finance opportunities in investments in Southeastern Europe, Russia and Central Asia will be taken up at the meeting.
IFC Director for Central and Eastern Europe Edward Nassim and IFC Director in Turkey Sujata Lamba will attend the meeting.
