LEFKOSA - The Republican Turkish Party (CTP) Central Executive Board (MYK) convened under the chairmanship of CTP leader Mehmet Ali Talat on Saturday under efforts to form the new government of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
Addressing journalists prior to the meeting, Talat said that the letter of National Unity Party (UBP) and efforts to form the new government would top the agenda of the meeting.
Talat noted that they were obliged to form a government in order to find a solution to the Cyprus question and to settle peace in the island.
Overnight, UBP leader Dervis Eroglu sent a letter to CTP leader Talat about his party's views on a likely government partnership. The eight-page letter included the titles of ''equal sovereign state status, guaranty system, global property barter/compensation, map and Turkish-Greek balance''. Eroglu asked Talat to explain CTP's views on questions mentioned in the letter. He added that after CTP gave written answers to those questions, they would assess them, and give a positive or negative answer about a coalition with CTP-United Powers (BG).
