LEFKOSA - National Unity Party (UBP) leader Dervis Eroglu sent a letter concerning his party's views on ''bases of government partnership'' to Republican Turkish Party (CTP) leader Mehmet Ali Talat.
The letter comprised of eight pages includes titles of ''equal sovereign state status, guaranty system, global property barter/compensation, map and Turkish-Greek balance.''
Eroglu recalled in the letter that Talat and he exchanged verbally views on bases of government partnership and stated that they discussed those issues in the party assembly and determined definite principles. Eroglu asked Talat to explain CTP's views on questions mentioned in the letter.
Eroglu said that after CTP gave written answers to those questions, they would assess those answers and would give a positive or negative answer on UBP's coalition with CTP-United Powers (BG) and reaching a lasting agreement including sine qua nons in Cyprus.
''Border arrangements were determined in Annan plan. According to it, most part of fertile lands and water resources of TRNC is handed over to Greek Cypriot side. Nearly 50 thousand TRNC citizens who still live on those lands will have to migrate. What do you think about people who are foreseen to migrate, valuable land and loss of source?'' the letter said.
It also included views on exchange of property, foundation properties, dwelling finance, repayment of personal dwelling debts, economic adaptation process, residence limitations, citizenship situation of Turkish Republic origin citizens, places which were left empty in Annan plan, EU acquisition and EU decisions, chairmanship council, Turkish soldiers' situation on the island, guaranty agreement, sovereignty, results of a possible referendum. UBP asked Talat to explain his party's views on those issues.
The last part of the letter said, ''will you exert efforts for issues that we mentioned and asked in the letter to be included in Annan plan and assume a determined attitude to make necessary changes? What will your attitude be unless necessary changes are made? The issues which were mentioned under titles and explained are examples. They should not be interpreted as they are full set of UBP's reservations on Annan plan.''
