ANKARA - Foreign exchange deposit accounts at banks with letter of credit and super foreign exchange accounts increased by 22.3 percent in 2003 when compared with 2002.
According to Central Bank's provisional statistics, foreign exchange deposits with letter of credit and super foreign exchange accounts increased from 14 billion 80 million U.S. dollars to 17 billion 216 million U.S. dollars between December 31, 2002 and December 26, 2003.
Meanwhile, total foreign exchange deposit accounts at banks increased 732 million U.S. dollars to 70 billion 890 million U.S. dollars between December 12-19, 2003.
According to Central Bank's provisional statistics, total foreign exchange deposit accounts at banks was 70 billion 158 million U.S. dollars on December 12.
Foreign exchange deposits increased 409 million U.S. dollars to 53 billion 727 million U.S. dollars in the same period.
Total internal foreign exchange deposits increased 326 million U.S. dollars to 51 billion 216 million U.S. dollars while external foreign exchange deposits increased 83 million U.S. dollars to 2 billion 511 million U.S. dollars in the same period.
Meanwhile, total foreign exchange deposits at the interbank market increased 46 million U.S. dollars to 562 million U.S. dollars.
Foreign exchange deposits with letter of credit and super foreign exchange accounts increased 53 million U.S. dollar to 17 billion 216 million U.S. dollars between December 19-26, 2003.
