BERLIN - Turkish Consul General in Berlin Ahmet Nazif Alpman was decorated with an "Honor Badge" (Ehrennadel) for his contributions to the Neukolln borough of German capital Berlin on Sunday.
Heinz Buschkowsky, mayor of Neukolln who made a speech at the award ceremony, said that Alpman has contributed a great deal to the friendship between Turks and Germans since he has came into office in September 2005.
The mayor said this is the first time a foreign diplomat receives the honor badge. Buschkowsky mentioned Alpman's efforts towards Turks living in Germany, and said "he is an attainable consul general."
The "Ehrennadel" was given to Marie Luise Oswald, Wolf Rudiger Bindig, Bernhard Jahn and Horst Bosetzky for their contributions to social, cultural and artistic life of the Neukolln.
