BAM - Turkey will set up a tent site in Bam city of Iran on Friday which was hit by an earthquake.
The 400 tents, which set off from Tehran two days ago, reached Bam on Thursday evening.
Selahattin Durmaz, the Prime Ministry Emergency Management Directorate General official who is responsible for the coordination of the Turkish teams in the region and Iranian government officials signed a protocol today to set up the tent site in a region in Bam.
Around 1500-2000 people are expected to be settled in the tent site.
It was reported that following the tent site, Turkey plans to set up prefabricated huts that may shelter 6-7 thousand people.
Meanwhile, it was reported that Prime Ministry Emergency Management Directorate General carried out aid works in Bam city and that no team from the Red Crescent has yet reached Bam city.
Turkish civilian defense and health teams continue efforts in the region. The teams are searching for alive people under the debris.
However, as hopes faded that there was no more alive people under the debris, five-people from search and rescue team (AKUT) departed from the region.
Iranian delegations often visit the camp in which Turkey's rescue teams were settled.
Iranian Islamic Propaganda Organization delegation wanted Turkish officials to convey their experiences on search and rescue to Iran.
Turkish officials in reply said this should be in governmental level, and that they would do what is necessary in case of an official application.
An earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale hit Bam city of Iran at 5:28 a.m. Iranian time on December 26. Thousands of people lost their lives and thousands others were wounded since the quake hit the city when most of the people were in bed.
