ANKARA - "We will not take any step that may obstruct voting by the Turkish youth," Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said today.
Erdogan talked to the press corps after delivering his speech at the weekly group meeting of his Justice and Development Party (AKP) in the Turkish parliament.
Asked about what may happen if the Turkish High Election Council (YSK) decides that the age of 25 is not suitable for getting elected, Erdogan replied that such a possibility exists if an amendment is made to the Turkish Constitution. "We will need a consensus with the opposition party to make the necessary amendment," stressed Erdogan.
On a question about possibility of early general elections, Erdogan said unless the YSK decides on the early elections, the elections will be held on time.
