GAZIANTEP - Marc Pierini, the head of the Delegation of the European Commission to Turkey, said on Monday that although there were some negative perceptions, the negotiation process between Turkey and the EU had been definitely continuing.
Pierini said that they were aware of some different perceptions and negative thoughts about Turkey`s membership to the EU, noting that although some circles were talking about suspension of the negotiation process, the process had been continuing. He added that considerable progress was made in the last two months to this end.
He said that Turkish State Minister Ali Babacan`s visit to Brussels proved that the negotiations were continuing determinedly.
Pierini said that EU`s annual financial assistance to Turkey reached 500 million euro under the pre-accession assistance program.
He added that they extended support to Turkey`s reform process.
