Iranian Foreign Minister Kharrazi Visits Turkish Rescue Team Camp

BAM - Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi visited the camp where Turkish search and rescue teams stayed during his visit to Bam city of Iran which was jolted by a devastating earthquake.
Kharrazi thanked Can Avci who is the director of civil defense unit and said that they were very pleased with Turkish rescue teams' efforts and Turkey's sensitivity.
TURKISH HEALTH TEAMS HELP MORE THAN THREE THOUSAND IRANIAN QUAKE SURVIVORS
A statement of Provincial Health Directorate said on Tuesday that health team comprised of 21 people reached the quake zone in Iran on Saturday.
The statement noted that the team dispatched tents, foodstuff, medical equipment and one ambulance to the region.
A search and rescue team and a health team comprised of 132 people from Ankara, Bursa, Kocaeli and Istanbul went to the region, the statement recalled.
The statement said that there were orthopedists, internal medicine experts, pediatricians, dermatologists, other health personnel and a communication expert in the search and rescue and health teams.
Turkey had extended personnel, equipment and medicine support to health center in the wake of the devastating earthquake, the statement pointed out.
The statement said that Turkish health teams had given 10 thousand doses of tetanus inoculation so far.
Environment health teams distributed chlorine tablets to purify the water in the quake zone, the statement read.
The statement said that two new health units were formed, adding that Turkish health teams helped three thousand 500 quake survivors at the end of the third day.
PART OF TURKISH RESCUE TEAM RETURNS FROM IRAN TO TURKEY
A part of Turkish search and rescue team returned from Iran to Turkey after joining relief efforts in Bam city of Iran in the wake of devastating earthquake.
Thirty-five people who joined search and rescue efforts in Bam returned to Turkey.
One hundred and four people, including 28 from civil defense search and rescue teams, 30 from Ankara 113 Emergency Service, five from private search and rescue organization AKUT, four from private search and rescue operation from GEA, 15 from Golcuk town, 21 from Istanbul 112 Emergency Service and one from TRAC search and rescue team continue relief efforts in Iran.
An earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale hit Bam city of Iran at 5:28 a.m. Iranian time on Friday, killing and injuring many.
