Turkish Red Crescent Sends Medical Aid To Iran

BAM - The Turkish Red Crescent has sent 10 tones of medical aid to the Iranian Red Crescent in an effort to assist last week's quake survivors.
Sources told the A.A correspondent on Tuesday that 10 tones of medical aid including orthopedic devices, tetanus vaccines, various medicines and intravenous solution, was handed over to the Iranian Red Crescent as a result of bilateral talks between Iranian Red Crescent Coordinator General Ali Zamani and Prime Ministry Crisis Management Director Selahattin Durmaz.
Meanwhile, truckloads of humanitarian aid sent by the Turkish Red Crescent arrived in Iranian capital Tehran. The aid will be transferred to Bam in the coming days.
Sources said that the delay stemmed from security reasons.
Meanwhile, Turkish health team in Bam have treated hundreds of Iranian quake survivors in two tent-policlinics erected by Turkey.
An earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale hit Bam city of Iran at 5:28 a.m. Iranian time on December 26. Thousands of people lost their lives and thousands others were wounded since the quake hit the city when most of the people were in bed, raising fears that the death toll may go higher.
