ANKARA - Justice Minister and Government Spokesman Cemil Cicek said on Monday that the draft law on omitting six zeros from Turkish Lira (TL) was opened to signature.
Holding a press conference after the Council of Ministers meeting, Cicek said that Law on Currency Unit of Republic of Turkey was taken up in the meeting.
He added, ''Turkey has been in an inflationist process for a long time. This situation causes difficulties in the sum, carriage and writing of banknotes. A new arrangement is necessary. The draft law on omitting six zeros from TL was opened to signature. If signatures are completed, it will be sent to Parliament this week.''
