ANKARA - Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Chief of General Staff Hilmi Ozkok took up Cyprus issue in their meeting on Monday.
Erdogan told reporters that he and General Ozkok discussed Cyprus issue in their meeting.
Asked what he thought about the decision of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) President Rauf Denktas to designate Republican Turkish Party (CTP) leader Mehmet Ali Talat to form the government, Erdogan said, ''I hope it will be good for TRNC.''
Erdogan said, ''I hope Mr. Talat will succeed in forming the government as soon as possible. We will be very pleased if a broad-based government is formed. TRNC doesn't have any time to lose. Therefore, I wish them success.''
Prime Minister Erdogan noted that a summit on Cyprus issue was not on their agenda.
