Cicek: Significant Contribution Made To E.U. Process With Decision Of Supreme Court Of Appeals To Abrogate Decision To Collect Kurdish Posters In Van

ANKARA - Justice Minister and government spokesman Cemil Cicek said on Monday that a significant contribution was made to European Union (EU) membership process with the decision of the Supreme Court of Appeals to abrogate the decision to collect posters in Kurdish which were hung in eastern Van province on December 10 World Human Rights Day.
Following the meeting of Council of Ministers, Cicek told reporters that ''today, Supreme Court of Appeals Eight Criminal Department decided to abrogate the decision of a lower court to collect mentioned posters and banners saying that the expressions in the posters and banners did not necessitate collection.''
''Law operates a little bit late, but in the end, it meets expectations and it eliminates hesitations and objections. The concerned court made such a decision. But, the Supreme Court of Appeals took a different decision and this decision was in line with expectation. Therefore, it made a significant contribution to EU process,'' Cicek added.
