Iraqi Turkmen Front Chairman Abdurrahman Meets With Foreign Ministry Deputy Undersecretary Tuygan

ANKARA - Iraqi Turkmen Front (ITF) Chairman Faruk Abdullah Abdurrahman said on Monday that they could not accept the views of Kurdish groups in Iraq that Kirkuk was a Kurdish city and their request for federation.
Abdurrahman met with Foreign Ministry Deputy Undersecretary Ali Tuygan. Abdurrahman said that they exchanged views before his visit to Egypt that would start tomorrow.
When recalled the news that Kurdish representatives in Iraqi Governing Council had presented a draft law about federation in Iraq and the draft envisioned that the oil fields in Kirkuk would be included in the region under the control of Kurds, Abdurrahman said that those plans could not be accepted.
Noting that Iraq now needed peace and stability and such plans would bring instability, Abdurrahman said that they could not accept Kurdish groups' request for federation. He added that majority of Kirkuk's population was formed by Turkmens.
