TURKEY EXPORTS 4.6 BILLION U.S. DOLLARS OF GOODS AND IMPORTS 6.5 BILLION U.S. DOLLARS OF GOODS IN OCTOBER
ANKARA - The State Institute of Statistics announced on Monday that Turkey exported 4 billion 693 million U.S. dollars of goods and imported 6 billion 588 million U.S. dollars of products in October of 2003.
The exports increased by 34.1 percent compared to same period last year while the increase in imports reached 36.4 percent.
The foreign trade deficit rose 42.6 percent from 1 billion 329 million U.S. dollars to 1 billion 895 million U.S. dollars, and the rate of exports meeting imports decreased from 72.5 percent to 71.2 percent.
In the January-October period of 2003, Turkey exported goods of 38 billion 317 million U.S. dollars and imported goods of 55 billion 571 million U.S. dollars.
Exports rose by 31.1 percent and imports climbed by 34.8 percent.
The foreign trade deficit climbed 43.8 percent to 17 billion 254 million U.S. dollars.
The rate of exports meeting imports decreased from 70.9 percent to 69 percent.
