Gul: Government's Making New Defense About Headscarf Lawsuit Filed By Leyla Sahin In Echr Is Out Of Question

TOKYO - Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul said on Sunday that the government made the necessary defense in 2002 about the lawsuit filed by Leyla Sahin at the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) as she was dismissed from university due to headscarf, adding that a new defense was out of question.
Gul told A.A correspondent regarding a news story published in a newspaper that defense stage of the case was completed with the defense of Turkish Republic in 2002.
Gul said that thus a new defense was out of question. He added that also the manner of the government supporting freedoms on that issue was known by public.
