VAN - Totally 160 persons applied in eastern Van province to apply from Reassociation Law to date.
Van Governor Hikmet Tan said on Saturday that inmates wanted most to benefit from the law which entered into force on August 6 and which would be valid for six months. Tan said that 48 of the 160 persons benefited from the law to date.
Tan noted that among those 160 persons, 10 persons coming from rural areas applied to benefit the law. Referring to the Reassociation Centre which was formed in the garden of Van Security Directorate to give shelter and to interrogate the terrorists who wanted to surrender by coming from rural areas, Tan said that 100 billion liras were spent for the centre. Nobody took shelter in the centre as no such persons applied to them coming from rural areas in groups to benefit from the law, he said. The governor said that the law would only be in force for two months, adding that the centre would be kept open for those who wanted to surrender in that period.
