ANKARA - Presidential Chief Advisor for Foreign Affairs Sermet Atacanli has said that President Ahmet Necdet Sezer was planning to hold a meeting on Cyprus question in coming days.
Speaking at a press briefing at the Cankaya Presidential Palace, Atacanli said, ''Sunday's parliamentary election in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus was held in an atmosphere of maturity and democracy. Now, efforts have been continuing to form the new government of the TRNC.''
Referring to the European Union (EU) summit in Brussels, Atacanli noted, ''the part of the final statement about Turkey was far away from meeting our expectations. However, the part about Turkey included some positive elements. Now, we are in a very significant stage about Turkey's EU membership process. We deserve to get a date in December of 2004 for opening of accession talks with the EU.''
