KOCAELI - 16 people went to hospitals with complaints of vomiting, nausea, respiratory problems following the explosion at the Izmit Refinery of Turkish Oil Refineries Corp. (Tupras) in northwestern city of Izmit today.
Two workers died and seven others were wounded in the explosion at Tupras facilities that took place at around 3.55 p.m. The explosion happened when workers were dismantling a tetraethyl tank. These 16 people are still under observation.

Meanwhile, Tupras General Manager Yavuz Erkut said there was no hazardous gas leak according to the measurements carried out after the explosion in the refinery.
