KOCAELI - An explosion ripped through a storage tank at Turkish Oil Refineries Corp. (Tupras) in northwestern city of Izmit today.
Some people were injured in the blast, said Cavit Aykanat, an executive of the branch of Petrol-Is Union in Kocaeli.
Aykanat noted that citizens were being evacuated as hazardous gas might have been leaked out.
Fire-fighters and ambulances have been sent to the area, he added.
