ANKARA - Foreign exchange reserves of the Central Bank increased by 610 million U.S. dollars between December 5 and December 12, 2003.
According to the Central Bank's weekly bulletin, the Central Bank's foreign exchange reserves which were 31 billion 322 million U.S. dollars on December 5, increased to 31 billion 932 million U.S. dollars on December 12.
Total foreign exchange reserves of banks and private finance organizations increased 389 million U.S. dollars from 12 billion 748 million U.S. dollars to 13 billion 137 million U.S. dollars between November 21 and 28.
The international reserves of Turkey comprising gold reserves and foreign exchange reserves of the Central Bank, commercial banks and private finance organizations decreased 638 million U.S. dollars from 46 billion 379 million U.S. dollars to 46 billion 741 million U.S. dollars between November 21 and 28.
TOTAL DEPOSITS AT BANKS DECREASE TO 147.4 QUADRILLION TL
Total deposits at banks decreased 1 quadrillion 560.6 trillion Turkish liras (TL) to 147 quadrillion 495.5 trillion TL as of December 5, 2003.
The Central Bank data show that the total deposits were 149 quadrillion 56.4 trillion TL on November 28.
Excluding inter-bank deposits, the total deposits, which were 146 quadrillion 566.9 trillion TL on November 28, decreased 1 quadrillion 342.1 trillion TL to 145 quadrillion 224.8 trillion TL on December 5.
The total foreign exchange deposits under total deposits at banks decreased 252.1 trillion TL from 72 quadrillion 88.8 trillion TL on November 28 to 72 quadrillion 340.8 trillion TL on December 5.
The total TL deposits decreased 1 quadrillion 90.1 trillion TL to 74 quadrillion 226.1 trillion TL on December 5. The total TL deposits were 73 quadrillion 136 trillion on November 28.
SECURITIES ACCOUNT AT BANKS DECREASES BY 395.8 TRILLION TL
The securities account at banks decreased 395.8 trillion Turkish Liras (TL) to 51 quadrillion 476.1 trillion TL on December 5.
The total securities account at banks was 51 quadrillion 871.9 trillion TL on November 28.
The Central Bank data show that there were a total of 50 quadrillion 721.3 trillion TL of securities including 31 quadrillion 134.8 trillion TL of securities and 18 quadrillion 523.7 trillion TL of securities over foreign currency in the deposit banks portfolio.
The securities over TL at deposit banks are composed of 3 quadrillion 843.3 trillion TL in treasury bonds, 26 quadrillion 798.1 trillion TL in state debenture bonds and 456.2 trillion TL in stocks.
A total of 1 quadrillion 62.8 trillion TL of foreign currency securities at these banks are abroad while there is a total of 18 quadrillion 467.8 trillion TL of state debenture bonds among the domestic securities.
The total securities account at the development and investment banks was 751.1 trillion TL.
BANKS' CREDIT VOLUME DECREASES BY 401.3 TRILLION TURKISH LIRAS
Banks' credit volume decreased 401.3 trillion Turkish liras (TL) to 55 quadrillion 478.2 trillion TL between November 28- December 5, 2003.
The total credit volume at banks was 55 quadrillion 879.5 trillion TL on November 28.
The credits given to financial sector were composed of 858.8 trillion TL of loans given by deposit banks, and 1 quadrillion 738 trillion TL of loans given by development and investment banks.
The credits given to non-financial sector were composed of 172.6 trillion TL of loans given by Central Bank, 48 quadrillion 98.3 trillion TL of loans given by deposit banks, and 4 quadrillion 610.4 trillion TL of loans given by development and investment banks.
FOREIGN EXCHANGE DEPOSIT ACCOUNTS INCREASE TO USD 69.68 BILLION
Total foreign exchange deposit accounts at banks increased 679 million U.S. dollars to 69 billion 689 million U.S. dollars between November 28 and December 5, 2003.
According to Central Bank's provisional statistics, total foreign exchange deposit accounts at banks was 69 billion 10 million U.S. dollars on November 28.
Foreign exchange deposits increased 447 million U.S. dollars to 52 billion 958 million U.S. dollars in the same period.
Total internal foreign exchange deposits increased 376 million U.S. dollars to 50 billion 535 million U.S. dollars while external foreign exchange deposits increased 71 million U.S. dollars to 2 billion 423 million U.S. dollars in the same period.
Meanwhile, total foreign exchange deposits at the interbank market decreased 18 million U.S. dollars to 531 million U.S. dollars.
Foreign exchange deposits with letter of credit and super foreign exchange accounts increased 110 million U.S. dollar to 16 billion 841 million U.S. dollars between December 5 and 12, 2003.
REPO TRANSACTIONS BETWEEN BANKS AND THEIR CUSTOMERS DECREASE
Repo transactions between banks and their customers decreased by 85.4 trillion Turkish liras (TL) between December 5 and December 12, 2003.
The Central Bank data show that the repo transactions, which were 3 quadrillion 464.9 trillion TL on December 5, decreased to 3 quadrillion 379.5 trillion TL on December 12.
Repo transactions among the financial organizations decreased 118.3 trillion TL to 7 quadrillion 713.1 trillion TL on December 12. The total repo transactions amount was 7 quadrillion 594.9 trillion TL on November 28.
The reverse repo transactions among the financial organizations, which were 7 quadrillion 667 trillion TL on December 5, decreased 129.3 trillion liras to 7 quadrillion 537.7 trillion TL on December 12.
